Arlington, VA (December 23, 2019). – Eric West, Co-Founder, and Principal, West, Lane & Schlager, LLC, Washington, DC, is the TRENDS 2020 Association Partner of the Year. Eric is a founding principal of West, Lane & Schlager, LLC, specializing in tenant representation and strategic real estate consulting primarily to associations, foundations, and non-governmental organizations.

“Eric was an obvious choice for the Association TRENDS Partner of the Year Award having dedicated more than 30 years to representing associations and nonprofits in their commercial real estate endeavors,” stated Brittany Carter, President of Association TRENDS. “Giving back to the community is also one of the key criteria for this award and Eric has continually done so through supporting financial and strategic real estate training to association executives.”

Eric West is a founding principal of a boutique real estate advisory firm, West, Lane & Schlager Realty Advisors, LLC, specializing in tenant representation for associations, nonprofits, foundations, and non-governmental organizations. The creation of the company was driven by Eric’s (along with Rich Lane’s and Gary Schlager’s) commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as their passion for real estate work and customer service. Eric’s professional vision centers on integrity and relationship building to produce breakthrough, client-oriented results.

Eric has earned a reputation as a strategic market expert, creative negotiator, and leader in nonprofit tenant representation throughout his 30-year career in commercial real estate. Acting as a collaborative, hands-on partner, Eric’s dedication to his clients continues long after the transaction is complete. With experience representing over 200 nonprofit organizations, he knows how to find the right address at the right deal.

Eric pioneered the development of the VISION Process® (Value, Insight, Strategy, Innovation, and Ongoing Negotiation) one of the first strategic planning processes. VISION Process® was designed with the goal of maximizing efficiency by building a plan that precisely reflects the objectives and mission of the client. This tool provides valuable insight and direction for both the advisor and client in order to determine the best possible real estate decisions.

A sample of his clients include: The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Save the Children International, The Pew Research Center, National Council on the Aging, The American Iron & Steel Institute, The American Forest & Paper Association, Managed Funds Association, Consumer Healthcare Products Association, U.S. Travel Association, and the National Parks Conservation Association.

He was awarded the 2015 Washington, D.C. Area Broker of the Year, and the 2014 Westchester County and Fairfield County Deal of the Year. In addition, he is a 3-time winner of the Washington, D.C. Deal of the Year. Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in American History from Tulane University, and completed Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program in 2004.
