John J. Witkowski is the new CEO of the Independent Bankers Association of New York State. He was retail banking EVP at Financial Institutions Inc., and is a former quarterback in the National Football League, having played for the Detroit Lions in 1984 and 1988. He also was with the Houston Oilers in 1986 and 1987.
Ben Veghte, from strategic communications director, Glover Park Group, to communications VP, National Venture Capital Association, Washington, effective Feb. 10. He earlier worked for a member of Congress and in communications for Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Longtime CEO Thad Woodard of the N.C. Bankers Association will retire at the end of the year. He joined the Community Bankers Association as president in 1978. When that group merged with the N.C. Bankers Association in 1997, Woodard became president of the combined organizations.
