New marketing SVP at Country Music Association

Has long history with Disney

Damon Whiteside will be the new marketing and partnerships SVP of the Country Music Association, Nashville, Tenn., effective Jan. 6.

Whiteside will oversee CMA’s marketing department, which includes creative services and digital, as well as the research and strategic partnerships departments. Whiteside will report to recently appointed CEO Sarah Trahern.

Since 2011, he has served as brands and talent CMO at Nomad Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, Earlier he worked for several Disney-owned companies, such as Disney Music Group, Walt Disney Studios, Disney Channel and Disney Consumer Products.

He has worked on marketing for artists such as Christina Aguilera, Colbie Caillatt, Kelly Clarkson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and others. In addition, he developed brand and retail strategies for the world’s largest franchises including Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, Toy Story, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical. He was instrumental in transitioning a physical music business to digital through online and mobile marketing and retail programs, growing digital revenue by 300 percent in one year.

Professional affiliations include NARAS, Music Business Association/NARM, CMA, Digital LA, CMO Club, American Marketing Association, Promotion Marketing Association, among others.
