National Retail Federation, Washington, created an initiative called "This is Retail: Careers, Community, Innovation" campaign, that highlights the industry’s opportunities for life-long careers, how retailers strengthen communities at home and abroad, and the critical role that retail plays in driving innovation. The campaign will include a road show and other events, original research, social media initiatives and grass-roots campaigns. Details: thisisretail.org, which will fully launch in June.

Winners will be recognized at the Gold Circle Awards ceremony on June 5 at the 2013 ASAE Membership, Marketing and Communications Conference in Washington. During the ceremony, one winner will be selected as the overall winner and receive the Gold Circle Award for Overall Excellence, formally known as the Council’s Choice Award. The 2013 competition received the highest number of entries with more than 175 entries. The Communications, Marketing, and Membership councils collaborated for this year’s awards.
Maddie Grant is the 2013 NTEN Award recipient. The award recognizes professionals who embody the values of and enhances the NTEN community. Well-known in the national association community, Grant is a strategic consultant at ICF Ironworks and lead editor of the SocialFish blog.
