Association News: 

Nominations are being accepted for the Nonprofit CFO Awards. Deadline is Oct. 30. The awards honor the contributions of nonprofit financial executives who demonstrate a vision for operational excellence, innovation in finance and management, and exceptional leadership and commitment to improving accountability and financial reporting. National League of Cities, Washington, entered into an agreement with the financial guaranty subsidiary of Radian Group, Radian Asset Assurance, to explore the formation of a new public finance mutual bond insurance company. Both organizations anticipate the project to invite private capital from third-party investors. Details: www.nlc.org.

Center on Philanthropy at Indiana U., Indianapolis, awarded 10 young scholars grant for $25,000 each to research ways to strengthen human services nonprofits, The recipients and their research subjects include Gina Weisblat, Cleveland State"; Asset Education and Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness”; Kelly LeRoux, U. of Illinois at Chicago, “Nonprofits and Voter Engagement in the US”; and Jesse D.
