The Association TRENDS 2011 All Media Contest is now open. Last year, there were 79 entries across three categories for meetings-related pieces, including convention programs, trade show exhibit packages, and convention registration promotion packages.
The 2011 Publisher's Choice Award was given to the Produce Marketing Association for its work on the "One Source...Endless Opportunities" convention registration promotion package.
The All Media Contest judges offered these tips to creating the perfect meetings promotion piece:
• Justify the cost while also targeting prospects. More than being simply straightforward, speak directly to why exhibitors and participants invest in conferences. Tie messages together with a simple and direct theme, and include prominent and pertinent testimonies along with objective ideas on how members can best succeed at the conference.
• Speak directly to the prospective attendees’ reasons to attend through a series of distinct, simple and beautifully designed messages.
• Provide not only information necessary to the attendee at the conference, but also ample opportunity for feedback and help organizing, such as the envelop for expansible receipts.
There are 22 categories that cover all areas related to association and nonprofit communications. To be eligible, items must have been produced by or for national, regional, state and local associations and nonprofits between Nov. 1, 2010 and Oct. 31, 2011. Associations, professional societies and nonprofits are eligible to enter. Suppliers may enter products on behalf of their association, society or nonprofit clients.
