News in Brief
Association News:

Business Software Alliance, Washington, changed its name to BSA-The Software Alliance. The lobbying group said its new name and branding also reflects its move earlier this year to focus its operations on protecting intellectual property rights, fighting trade barriers and advocating for policies that will foster the growth of the cloud computing market. BSA has 14 offices around the world, with headquarters on Capitol Hill.

National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Alexandria, Va.,‪ launched its new website www.nacds.org. The new NACDS site was created with “responsive web design” – it adapts automatically for use on computers with various screen dimensions, on smartphones or on tablets. It also features homepage news feed format that features fresh content via Facebook; an emphasis on a search function rather than on click-through navigation via Google; and cross-marketing of NACDS’ social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and LinkedIn.‬

American Hotel & Lodging Association, Washington, is working with Onity, which makes hotel locks, after a software developer said current locks will open using a device he created. AH&LA said Onity has indicated it is developing an upgrade for the affected lock-type.
