Frank Fahrenkopf will step down as CEO of the American Gaming Association, Washington, effective June 30. Fahrenkopf has been chief executive since AGA launched in 1995.
He will be a consultant to AGA through at least the end of 2013.
Under Fahrenkopf, AGA established the National Gambling Impact Study Commission, National Center for Responsible Gaming, and tradeshows Global Gaming Expo and G2E Asia. Other accomplishments include an industrywide code of conduct, the AGA Diversity Task Force, and the Global Gaming Women program.
Fahrenkopf was chairman of the Republican National Committee for six years while Ronald Reagan was president, and led the party through successful presidential elections in 1984 and 1988. He became a partner at Hogan & Hartson after leaving the RNC. He continues to serve as co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Fahrenkopf graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1962 and earned a JD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1965.
