Electronics association IPC gets new CEO

John W. Mitchell will be the new CEO of IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries, Bannockburn, Ill., effective April 23.

He succeeds Denny McGuirk, who left after 12 years to become CEO of supply chain association SEMI (see "New CEO for supply chain association," Aug. 18). Interim CEO is Jim Herring, IPC 2006-08 chairman, who will assist in the transition.

Mitchell most recently was CEO of Golden Key International Honor Society.

He began his engineering career at General Electric Aerospace. In 1992, he joined Alpine Electronics and became a founding member of its research company. At Alpine, he had several positions, including IT director. In 2003, Mitchell was recruited to Bose Corp. as GM and new global business unit director.

He earned a doctorate in higher education management at the University of Georgia, an MBA at Pepperdine, and a BS in electrical and computer engineering at Brigham Young University.
