From association executive to head of lobbying firm

COO Daniel A. Varroney is the interim CEO of TechAmerica, Washington. Former CEO Phil Bond left for a position with a lobbying firm.

Varroney's past positions include president of American Solutions, CEO of the Association for Corporate Growth and several positions, including sr. VP, over 23 years at the National Association of Manufacturers (see "News in Brief," 5/4/09).

Bond will become a partner and CEO at Petrizzo Bond, currently called Petrizzo Strategic Group, on Nov. 1. He will represent companies in IT, health, life science and other industries.

He had been CEO for three years. He led the successful merger of four technology trade associations to form TechAmerica, by combining AeA (American Electronics Association), Cyber Security Industry Alliance, Information Technology Association of America, and Government Electronics & Information Technology Association (see "Shared chief executives roles no more," 2/3/10).
