Gus Edwards is the new CEO of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, succeeding Joy Pinniger, who retired on Nov. 2.
Edwards has been EVP since 2008. He started at the National Stone Association in 1997 as public affairs VP. After the merger of NSA and the National Aggregates Association in 2000, he continued as communications and community relations VP until his appointment as EVP.
Before NSA, he was environment, health and safety VP at the Jefferson Group, a Washington consulting firm. He previously was U.S. deputy assistant secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and deputy assistant administrator for external affairs at the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Earlier, he worked for 12 years on Capitol Hill as chief of staff to a member of the US House of Representatives and a US senator. Details: www.nssga.org.
