American College of Healthcare Executives, Chicago, hired Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, as its new CEO, effective May 13.
Bowen has been ACHE COO since 2003. She joined ACHE in 1992 as its government relations director. In 1994 she was named administration VP, a role she held until 2000 when she left ACHE to become deputy executive director of the Society of Actuaries.
In addition to COO, she serves as ACHE’s chief ethics officer. Bowen headed the organization’s first state-level Baldrige application, which resulted in receipt of the Illinois Performance Excellence Bronze Award.
She serves in board leadership roles for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, the Institute for Diversity in Healthcare Management and the Association Forum of Chicagoland. She is a Baldrige Executive Fellow, and a Fellow of ASAE.
She will succeed Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, upon his retirement after 22 years as ACHE CEO. Details: www.ache.org.
