New CEO for American Society of Anesthesiologists
Paul Pomerantz, CAE, will be the new CEO of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Chicago, effective March 4.
He succeeds EVP John Thorner, CAE, who left the organization in June. Barbara Fossum, PhD, has served as interim CEO.
Pomerantz has been executive director of the Drug Information Association since 2009. Previously he was EVP of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Arlington Heights IL. Previous positions include executive director, Society of Interventional Radiology; executive director, Clinical Laboratory Management Association; assistant VP, Medical College of Pennsylvania; executive director, Maxicare Philadelphia; and deputy director, U.S. Public Health Service.
He is a past chairman of the former Center for Association Leadership, which is now the ASAE Foundation.
Pomerantz earned an MBA in health administration and a B.A. in liberal arts from Temple.
