Thomas W. Derry will become CEO of the Institute for Supply Management, Tempe, Ariz., effective July 30. Derry will succeed Paul Novak, CPSM, CPM, APP, MCIPS, who has served as chief executive since 1997.
Derry is currently COO at the Association for Financial Professionals, Bethesda, Md. Before joining AFP in 2003, Derry worked as a GM at LexisNexis Group in Dayton, Ohio. Earlier, he held senior management positions in product development and marketing at BNA Inc. According to his AFP biography, he is a director of C-Stream Ltd., London, and a former member of the boards of Tax Management Inc., Washington, and the Institute of Management & Administration, New York.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
Novak announced his plans to retire in 2011. Under Novak's leadership, ISM experienced a major change in governance, global expansion and the creation of new programs and services for supply management professionals. Details: www.ism.ws.
