
Pat Cleary (pictured) will be the new CEO of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations, Arlington, Va., effective Dec. 5.
He will succeed Milan Yager, who had been chief staff executive since 1995; in 2009 his title changed from EVP to CEO. He left several months ago. Joe Cole has been serving as interim CEO since February.
Cleary was digital public affairs SVP at Fleishman-Hillard, where he has worked since 2007. Previously he had been at National Association of Manufacturers for ten years in several positions, the last as communications SVP. He was a managing partner of the Brock Group, chairman of the National Mediation Board, and was deputy assistant secretary for policy at the U.S. Labor Department.
He was named to a special Congressional Blue Ribbon panel on Amtrak. He is a member of the Corporate Advisory Board of So Others Might Eat, a Washington-area charity.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield (CT) University, and a law degree from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn.
