Mike Pennington has been named EVP of Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association, Atlanta. He will focus on strategic direction, goals and achievements as the association plans to reinvigorate itself.
Pennington was president of the Georgia Economic Developers Association. Earlier he was economic development director of the Greater Rome Chamber, senior project manager of Georgia EMC and a project manager or the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade & Tourism.
He earned bachelor's degrees in international business, marketing and French at Auburn.
Jackie Beaulieu remains HCEA executive director. Other team members include education director Candace Spradley and senior adviser Pam Chumley.
His appointment comes as HCEA embarks on a resolution to maintain the association's relevance. The association is planning to increase learning and networking opportunities, as well a enhancements to the Healthcare Convention Marketing Summit, this week in Philadelphia. The HCEA 2014 annual meeting, June 21-24 in Cleveland, will have a new look and will include education offerings of interest to young and seasoned professionals, small-to mid-size healthcare companies and sessions targeted to the needs of the supporting members.
