Association TRENDS created a new honor named after our founder and long-time leader.
At the TRENDS 2012 Salute to Association Excellence last week, TRENDS launched the “Martineau-Cornish Award.” The inspiration for this award came from TRENDS founder Frank Martineau, CAE, APR, and Jill M. Cornish, IOM, who succeeded her father as publisher in 1990, then executive editor when Columbia Books acquired TRENDS in 2009.
In announcing the new honor, TRENDS 2004 Association Executive of the Year Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE, said, “Association TRENDS, right from the start, has been about promoting association excellence, and it has been about developing the association community as a community of friends, colleagues and peers. But TRENDS was about more even than that because, quite simply, it has had Jill Cornish’s indelible stamp - conviction, candor, charm and even courage- continuing where her father Frank Martineau left off.”
The first award will be announced at the 2013 Salute. Anderson, CEO of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Alexandria, Va., told the audience, “We are putting everyone here on notice that you have a year to help us come up with nominees worthy of this award.”
Send nominations to TRENDS publisher Joel Poznansky, jpoznansky@AssociationTRENDS.com. Remember: Nominees should display conviction, candor, charm and courage in their activities that support the association community.
