Association executives' confidence in both the members’ professions and the U.S. economy has skyrocketed, according to the TRENDS Fall 2012 Association PULSE Report. About half are either somewhat or very optimistic about the U.S. economy, their industry, and their association’s performance in the next six months. Consistent with previous years, executives are most optimistic about their own associations, followed next by the outlook for their industries, and finally by the U.S. economy overall. It is notable that optimism for the U.S. economy is higher than it has been at any point since before the recession. In February 2011, confidence in the economy was almost as high as it is in this report, but soon after plummeted as executives found themselves discouraged by a still-reeling economy.
