Association TRENDS

Since fall 2008, association executives' confidence in the U.S. economy has been, for the most part, on the pessimistic side, despite the unemployment rate making a steady drop from about 10 percent in fall 2009 to about 8 percent currently. As tracked by Association TRENDS, confidence in the economy among association executives hit a low in spring 2009 then climbed to near the 50 mark, which denotes the lowest level of optimism in the TRENDS Confidence Index. Confidence subsequently stayed near this line until it took a big drop in fall 2011, only to recover in spring 2012 to its highest level of about 60. Details: glyons@columbiabooks.com.
