Finance Executive Moves


Peter Gwaltney will become CEO of the N.C. Bankers Association, effective Jan. 2. He was CEO of the Louisiana Bankers Association from 1999 to 2006 after nine years as the EVP and COO. For the past seven years, Gwaltney has been chairman and CEO of the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation. He will succeed Thad Woodard, who will retire.

Longtime general counsel Karen Barr has been named CEO of Investment Adviser Association, effective Nov. 3. She succeeds the retiring David Tittsworth, who has led the association since 1996. Barr, has been IAA’s general counsel since 1997. Previously she was at D.C. law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now Wilmer Hale). She earned a B.A., magna cum laude, and a law degree, cum laude.
