New executive director for publishers association

Board reverses earlier decision to eliminate chief staff executive position

Matt Salt has been made the full-time executive director of Specialized Information Publishers Association, Vienna VA, after the association's board had voted to eliminate the position in June.

In reversing the decision, the SIPA board cited "today's economic climate."

Salt had been working on a contracted, interim basis for SIPA since June. He oversaw the SIPA office reorganization, which included outsourcing fulfillment and financial management, and reassigning various office tasks. He also has been responsible for overseeing the development of many new member benefits, including the SIPAlert Daily articles, job board, chapter meetings and searchable content on the website. He was co-chairman of the SIPA 2010 Conference.

Until joining the SIPA staff, Salt was publisher of FDAnews, where he had worked since 2001. He previously was conference director at Financial Times Energy, first in London then in Arlington VA. He also co-founded the Langfords Group, a conference planning firm. Details:
