    The 44th annual Thoth Awards Gala of the Public Relations Society of America-National Capital Chapter will be 6-9 p.m. Sept. 13 at the National Press Club in Washington.     A recent study by
    Mobile Marketing Association, New York, found that in 2012, groups should spend 7 percent of their marketing budget on mobile marketing, and an average of 10 percent in the next four years. The study aimed to determine the role mobile marketing should play in an organization’s marketing plans, taking into account the growing influence of smartphones in people’s media viewing habits.
    Social media increases the reach of magazines and other media especially among younger readers, a study by
    MPA, the Association of Magazine Media, New York, found. Among members of the millennial generation, 56 percent follow a magazine on Twitter, and 49 percent follow a magazine editor or writer. 62 percent believe that they can learn more about a topic by following more forms of media, a clear sign that associations should use all available forms of media.
