    Association News: 

    Associated Builders and Contractors, Washington, and launched a new partnership that will provide ABC contractor members with extensive resources for their payroll processing needs, including construction-specific advantages and an integration feature with QuickBooks accounting software.

    Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) has filed a brief in federal District Court in Washington challenging a Federal Election Commission regulation that allows groups that run political ads during elections to avoid disclosing their sources of funding for those ads. This includes political ads paid for by 501(c)(4) political organizations, 501(c)(6) trade associations and labor unions.

    IRS uploaded a video to YouTube that shows how nonprofits that have lost their exempt status can get reinstated.

    Association Foundation Group, Washington, will hold a seminar on “AFG Connections: Related Foundations of Associations: The Top Five Legal and Tax Pitfalls to Avoid” Aug. 20 at Venable's DC office. The seminar will address how to maintain true separateness between associations and their foundations, and will offer tips on managing the unique 501(c)(3) tax risks that foundations face.
