National Grocers Association, Arlington, Va., National Retail Federation, Washington, and Retail Industry Leaders Association, Arlington, Va., expressed their approval of the U.S. Court of Appeals’ unanimous decision, in Noel Canning v. National Labor Relations Board, that the board’s 2012 recess appointments were "constitutionally invalid and board therefore lacked quorum." The Canning case challenged the appointments as being unconstitutional, and on those grounds, the court found that the NLRB had lacked a quorum of three legal members to act since January 2012.

American Society of Women Accountants, McLean, Va., has changed its name to Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance. The decision was made by members in October 2012 in a bid to “attract a new generation of women accounting and finance professionals”, according to executive director Lee K. Lowery. The Alliance’s tagline will be “Connect, Advance, Lead.”
