New COO at golf superintendents group

Experienced in municipal administration; developed multimillion-dollar dairy business

Matt Shatto will be COO at Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, effective Jan. 1.

Shatto was city administrator for the city of North Kansas City, Mo. His also worked in the administration of the cities of Lenexa, Kan., and Maryland Heights, Mo. He developed his family's dairy business, Shatto Milk Co., into a multimillion-dollar organization.

Though most of his career has been in the public sector, Shatto said those experiences have many parallels to a membership organization. "In local governments, the citizens are paying taxes and expecting high-quality service in return; with GCSAA, the members are paying their dues and expecting a high level of service in return," Shatto said.

He earned a bachelor's degree at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., and a master's degree in public administration at University of Kansas in Lawrence. Details:
