    Association News: 

    CNET editor at large Brian Cooley will be the keynote speaker at the National Association of Broadcasters Show Technology Luncheon, April 18 in Las Vegas. His presentation, "Top-10 Technology Countdown," will include insights into consumer technology trends. 

    IEEE Standards Association, Piscataway, N.J., will sponsor three events at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference, March 12 in Austin, Texas. Appearing at the IEEE events will be Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway. 

    ACT, the trade association for apps, applauded the agreement between California Attorney General Kamala Harris and the major mobile platform providers to set guidelines for app makers while reassuring consumers that their privacy is secure. "All app makers, even those that don’t collect user information, should make their practices clear in a privacy policy. This improves consumer confidence in the safety of their personal information and helps users identify the right apps for their needs," the association said in a statement.
