    CompTIA acquires TechAmerica

New group's name will remain CompTIA

CompTIA acquired TechAmerica, effective immediately. This comes on the heels of TechAmerica settling a multimillion-dollar lawsuit with the IT industry Council just days before.

Chief staff executives for both organizations say the lawsuit did not affect the acquisition. Todd Thibodeaux continues as CEO of CompTIA. TechAmerica CEO Shawn Osborne will not be on staff, and will work on other ventures with which he is involved. Offices will be maintained in Chicago, Arlington, Va., and Washington.

CompTIA is the succeeding group's name, with the a new tagline, “The ICT Industry Trade Association." Except for seven employees, most of TechAmerica staff was retained, including the public policy team. CompTIA public advocacy VP Elizabeth Hyman will head the combined advocacy team.

There was minimal member overlap and the new entity will have 2,400 member companies.
