Ohio Society of Association Executives names new staff leader

Formerly worked for an AMC; succeeds director who died unexpectedly in February

Jarrod A. Clabaugh is the new executive director of the Ohio Society of Association Executives. He succeeds Shane Yates, CAE, CMP, who died unexpectedly in February.

Clabaugh has been chief communications officer of Clemons & Associates, an AMC in Baltimore, Md., since 2014. In that position, he oversaw the communications and marketing strategies and social media channels for more than 10 independent organizations. Before joining Clemons, he was communications director at the Ohio Restaurant Association for nearly five years. Earlier he was a media/PR director for Source of Title for five years, and had his own PR firm for three years.

He was an OSAE board member in 2013, and a member of the Kent State University Advisory Hospitality Board from 2010 to 2014. He intends to pursue the CAE certification.

Clabaugh is a journalism graduate of Ohio University. He also earned a B.A. in French.

To honor its previous executive director, the OSAE board back in March renamed a program the Shane Yates Aspiring Leaders Institute.

OSAE elected president Holly Dorr, deputy Eexecutive director, Ohio Chapter, American College of Emergency Physicians, said, “By renaming it in his honor, we not only pay tribute to him, but we ensure that future association leaders will learn of his commitment to the industry and his passion for education and growth.”
