    Teeth-related group names new executive director

    Former chief moved to dental organization

    American Association of Orthodontists appointed Lynne Thomas Gordon, MBA, RHIA, CAE, FACHE, FAHIMA, as executive director, effective Jan. 8. She succeeds Chris P. Vranas, CAE, who left in August after 11 years to become executive director of the Association of Dental Support Organizations.

    Gordon had been CEO of the American Health Information Management Association since 2011. Earlier she was the operations associate VP and director of Rush Children’s Hospital in Chicago, administrator of Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Ga., and COO of Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

    She has been nominated several times by Modern Healthcare as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” and has provided numerous interviews and articles to publications such as The New York Times, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Modern Healthcare, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, Politico, Health Leaders and The New Yorker, among others.

    She earned an MBA at Georgia State and a B.S. in health information management at the Medical College of Georgia. She also earned the CAE. She is board-certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, a Registered Health Information Administrator, and a Fellow of the American Health Information Management Association.
