2012 Gold Award: Staffing World 2012 Final Program

Convention Program

Staffing World 2012 Final Program
Judge’s Comments: The standout trend this year was smooth integration of online efforts into print publications. From making convention programs easily accessible online to friendly reminders to participants about how to tweet about the event, this year’s best entries proved that they understand how people prefer to consume information. The winning entries also helped their audiences navigate that information in print form.

2011 Gold Award: 26th Management & Leadership Conference Learning Journal

Convention Program

26th Management & Leadership Conference Learning Journal

Judge’s Comments: I loved how easy this piece was to navigate. There are many thoughtful touches included throughout, like the tabs to guide you through each day’s events that are laminated so they won’t tear easily. Other smart ideas are the pages in the back to keep business cards the user collects throughout the conference, and the well-designed section for taking notes. The conference book is really all you need to carry with you to have a successful conference.

Judge’s Comments: Bright modern colors, contemporary typeface, and a clean design set this program apart. Users are immediately drawn in by the design of the “Dear Colleague” welcome letter page, and the Twitter hashtag info is easy to spot. The overall design is well suited to the target audience.

Convention Program

AAP Onsite Program

Judge’s Comments: The AAP used smart design to present an abundance of information about its conference. Graphic icons use both color and shape to quickly guide users to sessions of interest. The headshots throughout the front of the book are a nice touch. Photos throughout the rest of the book are well-chosen. The type and column selections make readers want to give each page a thorough read.

Judge’s Comments: After “Where are the restrooms?”, “Which session should I attend?” is the foremost question asked by conference attendees. The HDMA program answers this question with an effective education session key and concise programs descriptions. Coupled with the beautiful construction and layout, this is an attractive and effective program.

Judge’s Comments: The quality of the program is evident from the moment you pick it up. It is sturdy enough to take the beating of an active conference. The tabbed, “Day Planner” familiar layout of the program make it easy to navigate the considerable information in the program. This is a user-friendly program to help attendees easily navigate the decisions at the conference.

2010 Gold Award: ACC 2010 Annual Meeting “BE THE SOLUTION” Program Guide

Convention Program

ACC 2010 Annual Meeting "BE THE SOLUTION" Program Guide

Judge’s Comments: The ACC program proves that good things come in small packages. Clever in construction, it provides not only information necessary to the attendee at the conference, but also ample opportunity for feedback and even some help organizing (such as the envelop for expansible receipts). Sturdy and compact, tremendous attention was paid to detail of design. This includes the simple session keys on each page along with the theme being carried through, but not interfering with the terrific functionality of the program.
