The Member Handbook educates members about the value of being a member by encouraging participation in the members-only website and on various committees as well as informs members of the key policy issues on which the association represents their companies. Based on the members of the association, the piece achieves its purpose and is designed perfectly for the audience. It is a well thought-out piece with strong writing and content, presented consistently and effectively.

The tri-fold direct mailer has a nice use of infographics and graphs – Information is clearly presented and organized. The brochure has a good balance between the use of images and graphics. The colors, geared toward the audience, draw in the reader. The case study is clear with well defined content headings, showing prospective members the results and what the Produce Marketing Association will bring them in the future by being a member.

Judge’s Comments: The HAI New Member Kit is amazing! The membership welcome kit provides the key information new members of HAI need to become engaged with the organization and to achieve an immediate sense of belonging. The welcome kit is the complete package because it not only provides the usual information, but HAI has brilliantly combined a tangible welcome kit with the extension of online and mobile resources including, members receive educational materials highlighting safety topics, a DVD showcasing women in helicopters, an HAI pin, personalized plaque, “Member of HAI” padfolio, and two items related to their new app, HAI Mobile – an elegant stylus and a mobile screen cleaner with a QR code. HAI clearly understands their audience and how to best communicate with them. The content is easily accessible. Overall, the HAI New Member Kit welcomes new members with excitement and in style. Very clever. Wish all associations had the budget to implement something similar!

ISSA clearly understands their audience and how to best communicate with them. The content is easily accessible. Overall, the ISSA Promise Kit welcomes new members with excitement and in style. Very clever. Wish all associations had the budget to implement something similar!
