This issue has a clean and crisp design throughout with a strong emphasis on the feature stories. The design elements make it easy for the ready to jump into the issue and stay interested through columns, departments and well written feature stories. There is also a strong tie to the association’s website as many references lead readers to go to the website for more in-depth information.

The association is committed to getting the members up to date on technology issues with a special focus on social media in one of the features.

Judge’s Comments: This winning title has it all—a dynamic cover design, excellent content, useful ideas in the columns and departments and strong social media presence.  The cover design beckons you to read this issue.  The graphics used throughout the issue break up the copy to make it easier for the reader to navigate the user friendly information.  The special section called the “Green Room” stands out with a striking design and well written content.   There are tags throughout the issue encouraging the reader to check the President’s blog and to follow the association on Twitter for the latest government affairs news.

Judge’s Comments: This single subject issue is about the Modern Workplace.  The very clever cover is a working QR reader that allows the reader to visit the Modern Workplace photo gallery online.  Each feature story provides a different take on the workplace challenges facing facilities management professionals.  This title is produced in-house with four staff members who also fill other roles for the association.  The content is well written and complemented by interesting photography, graphics throughout the issue.  There are also several tags leading the reader to the association’s digital products.
